New site, new camera, new lens.

My last shoot (with Irma) was done with a new camera, the Canon 5D Mark II and the 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens. I’m still getting to grips with it and have to keep in mind the viewfinder shows a lot more of the scene. I love the doubling of the resolution and greater sharpness of the images, I just need to get used to all the dials and wheels to quickly change the settings. But enough about my camera…

Yesterday Canon announced the 5D Mark III, and I’m thoroughly.. unimpressed. 22Mpixels? 1 more than I have now, big whoop. Higher native ISO? I shoot in a studio and/or in daylight, I’ll rarely go above 1600 ISO. In fact none of the improvements are so compelling that I’m regretting the 5DmII. Well, maybe the new battery grip, if it won’t work on the Mark II, I can live without it however.

I’m more interested in more/new lenses. My next purchase is probably going to be the 85mm or a 70-200mm (L lenses). But not for a while, my bankaccount needs to recover from my last purchase 🙂
